June Winner – Food Stories Award for Excellence in Storytelling

Food Stories Award Winner
It is such a huge honor to announce our second winner for the NEW Food Stories Award for Excellence in Storytelling!

A huge round of applause for Willow from Will Cook For Friends :-)

The tagline for Willow’s blog is … Love People – Cook Them Tasty Food.

From her blog, she says … I am not a chef, or a cook, or even a line-cook, for that matter… I’m just a normal girl who loves food and bringing people together around it. For a long time I was only really focused on the ‘eating’ aspect of food, but as I began spending more time in the kitchen I learned to really savor. Food is so much more than sustanance, it’s nourishment for every level of our being. It engages all our senses, and can warm us up, wrap us up, and fill us up like nothing else. And best of all, it can be shared!

If you’ve never visited her blog then you should drop what you’re doing and head over, right now. It’s no wonder that she blogs about great food stories because she also enjoys writing fiction, short stories & poetry. In fact, her site says she created her first ‘book’, with pages stapled into a cut-up cereal box for binding when she was just a wee lass of just 5 or 6 years old … Just check out the blog post from her acceptance of the Food Story nomination … It’s great!

See what the other judges had to say about her blog …

Kim – Treats and Trinkets
Will Cook For Friends is intelligent but relatable, well written, and a lot of fun to read. Willow’s pictures are breathtaking, and her recipes are divine. Plus, anyone who can properly use the word “elucidation” has my word nerd vote!

Uru – Go Bake Yourself
Willow has such a warm and friendly personality which comes through her fantastic posts – each one oozes her unique style and captures attention :)  Her recipes are beautifully presented and I love her blogging voice!

Jen – Juanita’s Cocina
Willow is the quintessential food blogger. Her stories, photos, and recipes suck you in and make you feel like you should never leave her page. There’s a beauty in a simple and well-researched recipe that is accompanied by gorgeous photography and a descriptive story. If there’s any food blogger that exhudes kindness and light, Willow is it. Her words make me comfortable. Her recipes make me hungry. And her photography keeps me drooling. Congratulations, Willow. This award is much deserved!

Jennie – The Messy Baker
Willow has a way with words when it comes to describing food. As I’m reading her site, my mouth starts to water and I begin to crave the delicious food she is describing. Her humor is warm and inviting, and I find myself wanting to have tea and biscotti with this lovely foodie. Congratulations, Willow!

Heidi – Young Grasshopper
I think on her recent Vanilla Ice Cream Post Willow summed up why she is my kind of blogger…. “Plain is not my flavor ~Vanilla.”  Everything about Willow’s blog is extra-ordinary from her witty pen to her creative palate and her refined photographic eye. Congrats & Thank you Willow for sharing a corner of your world with us.
