Have you ever heard the phrase, cut the muster, before? Do you know what the word muster means or ever wonder what it means? As a child, my parents would always use the phrase cut the mustard & I always thought it was strange why someone would even attempt to cut mustard. Fortunately, I understood the gist of the sentence and the thought being conveyed so I didn’t really even think about it until my college years. At one point, I erroneously used the phrase cut the mustard and a college buddy of mine openly taunted me for not knowing the word muster. At that point in my life, I had dreams of being an English professor so surely you can imagine my level of devastation & embarrassment.
Fast forward to present day life. Ever since I started my blog, I have always wanted to do a weekly feature, review, roundup … whatever you choose to call it; however, I couldn’t come up with an original name so I decided to put the concept on hold. I hate to be a follower :-)
For some reason, muster came to mind the other day and I decided to look up the actual definition of the word. Every dictionary and thesaurus has a different word choice but they all are in the same range as assemble, gather, collect, come together, round up … Bam, there’s my word!
Actually, this works out perfectly for me and my schedule because I work lots of long hours through the traditional work week. Saturday and Sunday are the only times that I have to leisurely browse the net, connect with others and get creative. Therefore, Monday Muster will be my time & place to gather, collect & round up my week of thoughts, fave foodies/blogs, food news & things that have inspired me. Kind of like a state of the union address … hmmm, why didn’t I just call it state of the blog? Oh well, I digress …
