NEW – Monthly Food Story Photo Contest

Food Story Photo Contest

I love beautiful pictures just as much as I love food, maybe more. In high school, I was the photographer for the yearbook. In my late teens, I had a passion for hobby photography. In my early twenties, I actually took a job as a portrait photographer and photographed babies/families for almost five years. This position was a mobile career that took me all over the country photographing families in smaller communities that didn’t have portrait studios. During these travels, I met my husband who was also a family photographer for the same company. In my thirties, I started my own business developing websites for local businesses which was very successful and eventually led me to my own mail order business. When you’re selling on the internet, you have to photograph everything. I guess you could say that photography has been a significant part of my life.

I also wanted to be a nurse most of my life but finances kept my dream at bay. After my business became successful, I was able attend nursing school and fulfill my dream. You can read more about my journey into health, nutrition and food science if you’re interested; however, it may bore you to tears. Although, I was able to attend nursing school, acquire an MBA and currently work in healthcare administration during the day; I am still passionate about web development, food and photography. Of course, all of these experiences intersected when I decided to start a food blog. I love tech stuff, love photography, love food & nutrition … So this has really become the best hobby a girl could ever have.

Book & Cherry

For me, the best part of a food blog is the beautiful pictures. Most of you are probably aware of the weekly feature regarding food story photos that I’ve been doing on the site but I just can’t get enough … I want to see more foodie pics and I know that you do to so I decided to up the ante and create a monthly Food Story Photo Contest. Anyone can enter & anyone can vote but the monthly winner (as chosen by you, the voters) will receive a fantastic foodie gift certificate worth at least $25. I’m still looking for the best deal but I know that places like The Food Network & Williams-Sonoma have e-Gift Certificates that can be emailed. That would keep the costs low and the full amount could be spent on the prize and not the shipping. Let me know if you have any recommendations on the prize and I’ll check it out.

In the meantime, you may want to begin browsing our current food story photos and start voting. All the previous food story photo submissions have automatically been added to the contest to get us off to a great start.

Learn more about the Food Story Photo Contest or submit your own Food Story Photo. Can’t wait to see what you guys submit & I’m very excited about being able to crown our first winner in early September!

Please feel free to leave any comments or questions.

What do you think?

  1. Love your story CJ. You certainly have been busy. Great that you’ve been able to fulfill your nursing dream. The competition sounds great but I’m guessing it’s open to people in the USA only? xx
