Monday Muster

Monday Muster - Food Stories Blog

Monday Muster @ Food Stories

Happy National Root Beer Float Day!

I’m really enjoying this new Monday Muster feature and it’s actually turned out to be quite helpful. Whenever, I’m making something new in the kitchen, and it doesn’t work out, it was always a huge let down. Kind of like, “What am I gonna blog about”. Now, I get excited because there’s a place for things that aren’t perfect. I can at least dialogue about what I’ve been doing. It seems like I always have so much to say but lots of it just wouldn’t fit into an entire blog post. Hooray for Monday Muster!

For those of you that aren’t familiar with the new muster feature, feel free to view the original Monday Muster for a quick refresh. Without further adieu, let’s get this muster underway …

These are miscellaneous items that are not quite ready for their own blog post. These can be things I’m working on, kitchen mishaps, new acquisitions, funny things, etc. These may or may not be coming to a blog post soon :-)

Hummus Follow Me on Pinterest

Hummus – I thought it was great but the hubs says I went overboard on the garlic and lemon. Since he eats hummus way more than I do, I’ve got to keep working on this one.

Carrot Bread Follow Me on Pinterest

Carrot Bread – Made a carrot cake this past weekend and had lots of leftover grated carrots so I thought I would make some other carrot stuff. This bread was a huge disappointment. I actually like heavy, dense baked goods but this was so dry.

Carrot Bread with Glaze Follow Me on Pinterest

Carrot Bread with Glaze – Thought the glaze would help but it didn’t. Still a dense, dry brick but it is pretty :-)

Cheesy Muffins Follow Me on Pinterest

Cheesy Muffins – You can’t really see the kitchen mishap in the picture but let me share with you what happened. The napkin that I put under the muffins for the picture was new. Didn’t even think twice about using it and the black ink stained all the muffins that touched it so I had to throw most of these away. Too bad because they are scrumptious.

Bakers Twine and Cake Stencils Follow Me on Pinterest

New Kitchen Toys – Bakers twine and cake stencils

Hope you enjoyed this week’s muster & thanks for stopping by! What’s been going on in your neck of the woods?

What do you think?

  1. It’s a shame the carrot bread was dry because it looks so lovely. I thought it was a ginger loaf because it has the colour of a ginger loaf. I didn’t think it looked dry – I thought it looked really yummy. You have been so busy CJ xx

  2. Is it really possible to overdo the lemon in hummus? Usually there’s not enough! It looks delicious–loving this feature.

    • I don’t think you can overdo the lemon but the hubs made a face when he tasted it. Just so you know, I was watching the barefoot contessa, recently, and she said that most hummus did not have enough garlic or lemon … so I added extra :-)

  3. This is a fabulous idea!!!! I often wonder what to do with my dissapointments. I also get so excited about new blogs I come across and new information I discover and don’t know where to channel it. What a great way to share AND to give yourself a break. I’ll be back next week for sure. Have a good one :)

  8. I think Hubs was lying. There’s NO such thing as too much garlic. ESPECIALLY in hummus. I love the Sabra roasted garlic hummus. Yum.

    • Kim … I agree with you, actually, but I guess people get a little territorial about their hummus. I read your comment to dear hubby and he said you were lying :-)

(he did smile & laugh when he said it, though)

  9. I love your Monday Muster posts :))
