Happy National Raspberry Tart Day!
Recently, I made a monthly contest out of our food photos and the winner (as voted by the readers) will receive a $25 foodie gift certificate! The contest is open to all entrants from around the world, no limitations! You can read all the details on the announcement post or on the actual Food Story Photo Contest page.
Unfortunately, this week there were no new submissions. Each Saturday, I like to feature the newest submissions and provide an update as to the top three images, so far, as voted by our loyal Food Stories readers. All current contest entries can be viewed on the July/August Food Story Photo Submission page. Please take a moment to scroll through and vote for your favorites! There’s no limit to the number of votes so feel free to vote as much as you want :-)
Votes will be accepted through the end of August and then the winner will be announced in the first week of September.
Here are the top three images this week (by readers votes):
First Place (so far):

Second Place (so far):

Third Place (so far):

I have to admit that I’m a little disappointed with not having new submissions, this week, and the response to the contest itself has been far less than I expected. Let’s have a heart-to-heart, shall we? You can be honest with me, I promise :-)
- Is an ongoing contest for food photos even interesting to you, at all?
- Is the concept of the photo too much to ask for? Maybe you’d rather just submit any food photo.
- Submission process too difficult?
- Prize not the best choice for the contest?
- Voting … too much work or would you rather have a judging panel?
- Food Pics … Maybe you just want to look at food porn and go on about your day (like Food Gawker or Tastespotting)?
I want the site to be fun and engaging so just share your thoughts with me. In only a few months, Food Stories has grown dramatically with the page views going up consistently. Since you’re already here, what types of things would you like to see? I mean, you’re already here so you might as well enjoy yourself, right?
If you would prefer for your comments to remain anonymous then just make up a name/email to enter your comments. Visitors to the site are the reason why I’m here so please share your thoughts with me :-)
Have a great weekend :-)

I love taking pictures, but I am not very good at props. Pedestrian at best. Still I love to be a part of contests, even if I know I am not the best It’s the fun of it. But when I am winning??? I am absolutely thrilled!!!!!

This contest is even more special because I never asked my friends to vote for me and still people have liked it. That’s so encouraging and humbling at the same time.
CJ, your contests are fabulous. Please keep them going. Your photo contest is especially unique. The idea of story behind a food is so unique!
Meanwhile, I am going to work on two more submissions this week, promise.
Minnie recently posted … Dada’s kirti, Rakhi, and ‘Shujir Payesh’ – Bengali semolina pudding
Thank you so much, Minnie … You’re very kind and you pictures are great so keep them coming :-)
