Have you every heard of (or had) a Zingerman’s Sourcream Coffeecake? This legendary coffee cake is one of their best selling products and has been a holiday tradition in our house for many years, always having one for Thanksgiving and one for Christmas. It’s also a popular gift that I’ve given many times and my recipients are always grinning from ear to ear.
Last year, we had a Sour Cream Coffee Cake crisis in our house as they were sold out (which has never happened before, by the way) so I had to come up with a recipe to save the day. This Zingerman’s Copycat Sour Cream Coffee Cake recipe is so close, I can barely tell the difference. It is decadently rich, buttery & extremely satisfying.
Readers of this blog know that I am notorious for tweaking a recipe to death to try to make something somewhat healthier; however, this is NOT the recipe to start adjusting. I have tried many times and it’s just not worth it. In our house, we only order or bake this culinary masterpiece around the holidays so I stay with full on carbs (meaning no whole grain flours, sugar replacers, etc.) and just enjoy. If you decide to make this recipe, please use the highest quality ingredients you can find and share with friends.
By the way, after last years debacle, the fabulous people at Zingerman’s actually sent me a free coffeecake to make up for not being able to get one for our annual holiday tradition. This was completely unexpected and it really solidified my feelings of loyalty to this company. They care about their customers and I will always be a loyal purchaser of their quality products. There’s nothing like having a Zingerman’s treat delivered and my friends & family love them.
Thanks Zingerman’s :-)
