Ours are organic and handpicked by a small farmers' cooperative on the Indonesian archipelago of the Moluccas

It is said that this papier-mache technique came down from China in around the Muromachi period

with double lids

This work is finished in his vibrant, painterly, saishiki style, with abstract, geometric markings defining areas of colour, rendered over a black base and intersected by dramatic carved lines.
